BitchX is an irc client used by most unix and Linux systems. In my point of view one of the best, having only at the same line irssi.
This client is text based only, which means that you do not use your mouse but your keyboard to write the commands you would like to perform. As there for some people like it more to press the Icons and/or the Menus in GUI-IRClients, such as XChat.
For example to change the room you are speaking in, you have to type /channel #channelname instead of clicking the channel you want
BitchX is free, also, its a SCRIPT, with that, you can easily edit whatever features you want... changing completely the program as you want, on the other way mIRC is an executable, you can not modify an executable file, although you can use scripts and ad-ons in it.
