SOp Rules

An SOp should never act as if he was the boss of the AOps, he is at their service if they need help. An SOp represents the founder when he is not here and can take important decisions without consulting the founder if he has to. The SOp is trusted by the founder and is chosen by him.

1) AKicks: They are set for serious channel problems only, not personal reasons. Serious problems include mass invites, spamming, constant user harassment and persistent disregard of channel rules, as well as ban evasion. They should be recycled every 2 weeks. Never remove an Akick placed by another SOp or by the founder.

2) AOps: Do not add any AOp unless you have the approval of the founder and the other SOps. You also have to be sure that there are no problems with other AOps. Always help AOps when they have problems, do not take the party of your friends, take the party of the ones who are right. When an AOp brakes a rule, deop him/her without warning and discuss the re-opping of that person later. Don't re-add an Operator who was de-opped by another SOp.

3) Bans: Clear the ban list from time to time, but not very often. Note that when the ban list is cleared, other ops bans also get cleared. Please do try to remove server bans after a split. To do that, you part the channel and rejoin (cycle), then you clear the bans, but only after the splits have stopped. We do not need to clear the ban list every three minutes and watch a server re-add them. This is disruptive to the channel and should be avoided at all times.

AOp Rules

The #Lebanon Operators team is chosen with great care. We are one of the biggest Lebanese channels on Worldusers, and our users deserve the best operators that we can provide. We are proud to have a good working operator team. The operators are NEVER chosen for their thoughts, religion or political beliefs. An AOp who doesn't apply to all the rules (except in extraordinary cases) stated below, will be removed from the AOp list. We would like to remind you that #Lebanon is not a military regime, therefore the use of your brains is necessary when it comes to applying the rules. We do not want rules to be applied in cases where it might be disruptive to the channel.

1) Joining: Join the channel whenever you are on Worldusers. It is strictly forbidden for an AOp to join more than 5 channels while they are operating #Lebanon. This rule is set because experience proved that people in more than 5 channels have a screen flooded and are therefore unable to control the channel.

2) Help: Show yourself being helpful with new users and make sure they will rejoin the channel.

3) No Fighting: Always clear up problems with operators and do not make them bigger. Do NOT take your fight with another op on the main. You can complain to the founder or to an SOp , but try your best to not go into a fight.

4) Kicking and banning: Warn the user when he abuses his rights, ban him the second time. Never kickban without warning first, especially when it's for using caps, and do NOT kickban anyone for personal reasons or for fun, kicking yourself for fun is not allowed as well. The kick message should state the reason that made you kick the user, it should not contain lame or silly words like "I'll see u in my office tomorrow" or reasons like "get out". Note that you should use ban mask 2 (*!*@host.domain.net).

5) Voicing: The +v (Voice) is reserved for active users (writing 5 lines only is not considered being active). There should never be more than 5 people voiced. We do not want a group of +v users that are off having excessive private chats or simply quiet. We want the channel to be active with conversations and debates.

6) Protection Scripts: Protection scripts are not allowed. The Only scripts allowed are the eXtreme, Peace and Protection, Oz, CCC-Bot and the normal mIRC .

7) Operators: It is Strictly forbidden for an AOp to clear the ban list, and/or to unban other Op's ban, no matter what user is banned, only the one who banned a user can unban him or her.

8) ChanServ: Unbanning by ChanServ is not allowed. Only the original holder of the nickname is entitled to be Oped. You can only Op/Deop/Unban yourself. Using ChanServ to Unban other users or to DeOp an other OP may cause you the loss of your AOp.

9) Sharing: Password and BNC sharing is NOT allowed and will result to an instant deopping. Same thing if you identify on a Lebanese cable IP.

10) Away: When you are away make sure you -o (De-op) yourself (unless services were down/lagging or if it was the night time in Lebanon).

11) AutoKicks: Remove silly AutoKicks like "Bad Channel" or "Excess ?'s and !'s". (for those who use eXtreme): "Blacklist" and "Slap kick".

12) Respect: Never swear at users and Never de-op or kick another operator . As an operator of #Lebanon, you represent the channel as an entity. Do NOT boss another AOp because noone is better than anyone.

13) Services: When services are down (ChanServ, NickServ and MemoServ are absent) never Op a user who isn't on the AOp list, and when you +o an AOp, make sure of his/her identity. If a takeover takes place as a result of the opping of an enemy, YOU will be held responsible and will be immediately deopped. Devoice all the voiced users when services are down and voice the Ops only.In this way when services come back they will deop some of the ops, they will be easily recognized that they are the real Ops because they will be voiced.

14) Op Notice: Op notice are not for fun and chat, they are only for channel matters. If you want to have fun and chat, you can do it on main but not on the Op notice.

15) SpamBot: Every Operator have to use an AntiSpam Bot (except those who can't use one because of their firewall). Set your spambot ban to ban mask 1 (*!* This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ).

16) Bots: This is for the ops who have access on one of the oped Bots: you are not allowed to use the bot for fun, you can only use the bot to op yourself when services are down, therefore using the bot to kick/ban or play with the modes or make him talk and all that would cause you the loss of your access on the BOT.

17) Modes: The Channel Modes were not made to play with them, Channel modes can only be used when the channel gets flooded.

18) Nicknames: The use of Offensive Nicknames or Idents will cause you the loss of your AOp.
19) Activity: The channel activity is your responsibility; Ops aren't oped to idle in the channel and keep their scripts on . You should all be active on the main as much as possible, even if the channel was quiet, you can talk on the main with another op, and users will follow you and will go into this conversation: the main will become active .

20) Promotion to SOp: It is very rare. Do not expect to ever become an SOp. The SOps are chosen because they show that they can work with the founder. They know the rules and when to really enforce them. They show leadership qualities. They do not act as if they were better than all the other Ops, but are a strong part of the team. Becoming an SOp means that the founder trusts that person to take care of the channel, AOps and users, and to follow his guidelines. If you ask to be an SOp, you probably aren't ready for it.

User Rules

1) No Swearing: It is strictly forbidden to swear in the channel main of #Lebanon. If you want to swear, do it elsewhere. You will be warned the 1st time by a simple kick, and then by a ban. *e.g. sharmouta, bastard, stupid, go to hell, fuck* .

2) No Op Begging: Do not beg any Operator for an AOp. Note that the tradition of #Lebanon states that people who don't ask for Op will be opped, so you are advised not to ask for an Op if you really want one.

3) Politics: Political discussions are allowed in #Lebanon as long as they remain respectful and do not show offense towards any user, religion or political character. The operators will be watching the discussions closely. #Lebanon is known for its democratic policies, therefore you can express your feelings, thoughts and views, but you must listen to others' as well.

4) No Flooding: Flooding (repeating a sentence several times in the main channel or talking quickly non-stop) is not allowed for the simple reason that it affects the speed of the connections of the users gathered in the channel, please talk slowly and do not repeat what you say several times.

5) Respect: Please be respectful to all the people in the channel no matter who it is or where he/she is from. Insulting a religion or the leader of a religion is strictly forbidden and will lead you to an immediate Akick. #worldusers believes in a United Lebanon. It is also forbidden to harass users and operators.

6) No Offensive Nicknames: Nicknames meant to offend religious faiths or political beliefs are not allowed. Same for bad nicknames that contain bad words.

7) No Ads/Inviting: Inviting to other channels is not allowed; it will lead you to a kick and/or a ban from the channel. Do not advertise for a website on #Lebanon without the approval of the founder or an SOp. This will lead you to a ban and later to an AKick if this persists.

8) No Fighting: Fights are not tolerated in the channel. If it is personal, talk in private. If it is a channel problem, discuss it with an operator in private. People who fight, will be kicked and banned from #Lebanon whatsoever.

9) Tolerated Languages: English, French, Italian and Arabic are accepted in #Lebanon. Hebrew and Arabic characters are forbidden, if you can read them it doesn't mean everyone can. When Arabic fonts are incorporated in English words, they are tolerated. (e.g: WêLçOmE bAcK, L?UgH§ O?T l?Ud)
